Lecture Topics Outline |
Students should be aware that mini-sessions are intense; every day there will be an assignment due, including weekends. We have only 2 weeks of class time with the winter break in the middle, so every single day you have at least one assignment due ranging from topic submissions to outlines to drafts of essays and more. We have much work to get through in just two weeks, so each day will be packed with assignments, emails, consistent communication between me and you through Blackboard, and you will be asked to revise and resubmit work and to stay on task. We have a good bit of work to get through in a short time, so it is imperative to check blackboard updates, your email etc. at least once a day. There is a good deal of reading in this course so you must stay on top of that. It is essential to understand the literature that we read, as you will be writing on it, as well as taking exams on various aspects of assigned readings and of all the information I upload for you on Blackboard. Please email me immediately if you are having trouble with anything, as we don't have time to procrastinate or watch the clouds change shape in the ever-darkening sky... |

Instructor Policies |
Please note: The "Facility Policies" do not apply for an online course. I simply ask that you show courtesy and respect to your classmates and to me. We are learning together, and class--albeit online-- is a lot more fun and fruitful if we show kindness and respect towards each other. The class shall maintain an environment that is conducive to learning without the presence of students or others who disrupt the academic community. Any student who fails to demonstrate collegiate behavior will not be permitted to remain in class and a grade of F may result. Deliberately disrupting the class will result in failure of the course. Students who make rude, offensive, or threatening remarks to the teacher or other students will fail the course. Students who are disrespectful to the instructor or other students, who disrupt class, or who refuse to follow instructions will be dismissed from class permanently. |
||||||||||
Attendance Policy |
Attendance for online classes will be taken in the form of class participation in weekly discussion boards and other assignments. Failure to participate in class will result in a lowered "Attendance/Participation" grade. Submitting work late will result in a reduced grade. Don't do that to yourself-- or to me. Late work is particularly problematic during the brief mini session as I may run out of time to grade it and that assignment will be assigned a grade of 0 i.e. F. |

Academic Honesty | Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty. | ||||||||||
